Construction work has started for the Interstate 35 Capital Express North project in Austin,Texas. The project is being managed by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and should take five years to carry out. The aim of the project is to boost traffic flow and cut congestion.

Costing US$606 million, the project will help lower congestion. This section runs through the centre of Austin. The area currently experiences regular traffic delays for drivers. The work includes a new high-occupancy vehicle lane in each direction along I-35 from SH 45 North to US 290 East, as well as upgrade works for six bridges along the route. Ramps and intersections will also be improved, including a diverging diamond interchange at Wells Branch Parkway. In addition, pedestrian and bicycle paths will be built and there will be additional safety and mobility improvements within the project limits.
