Balfour Beatty has won an $889 million package of works from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). The project involves rebuilding a stretch of Interstate 30 (I-30) through Dallas in Texas. This is the latest of several key road and bridge contracts being awarded by TxDOT, with further due and the contract letting process due on May 1st and May 2nd 2025, details here:

The work in Dallas for Balfour Beatty will see a 3.7km stretch of the route being widened on the east side of Dallas County. This will increase the number of general-purpose lanes from three lanes in either direction to six lanes in either direction, reducing congestion and journey times for drivers.

In addition, the company will construct nine crossings which will link I-30 with the Southern Gateway, the I-35E Lowest Stemmons and The Horseshoe, which Balfour Beatty has completed on behalf of TxDOT over the last five years. Work will start in 2026 and should take five years to complete.

This latest contract award follows Balfour Beatty’s appointment by TxDOT to rebuild part of the Interstate 35 through Austin in Texas. The contract, valued at $746 million was awarded in November 2024.

Leo Quinn, Balfour Beatty Group Chief Executive, said: “This contract award marks a significant milestone in Balfour Beatty’s 30-year partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation and our proven track record of successful project delivery.

“With decades of experience executing complex roadway projects in Dallas, and an in-depth understanding of the region’s infrastructure, we are uniquely positioned to deliver these essential improvements. This work will not only enhance connectivity and reduce congestion but also foster long-term economic growth and opportunity across the region.”
