Spanish contractor Sacyr has completed its work on a highway project in Texas worth $146 million. The US 59 highway is located in Diboll and will form part of the I-69 highway in the future.
The firm says that the US-59 project required the construction of a new 13.2km highway section. The new highway section will help to boost connectivity in the area and improve traffic flow for a key route in Texas. The new highway section provides a bypass around Diboll, eliminating local traffic, level crossings and traffic lights. This will help to increase road safety in Diboll and also for the highway, while reducing journey times for drivers.
The main works on this project involved building 28 bridges and installing 12,000m of concrete barrier. More than 172,000tonnes of asphalt surfacing was laid. This is the second project Sacyr has completed for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
