Gambia is planning a major programme of roadbuilding. The country aims to expand its road network by 700km. Funding from the World Bank will help pay for the programme of works.

Construction is due to commence shortly. The work will help boost trade and transport as well as tourism, a key factor for the country’s economy.Rural roads are being expanded in Gambia as part of the GIRAV Project.

Surrounded by Senegal, Gambia is one of West Africa’s smallest nations. It will benefit however from the major programme of road buidling boosting transport across West Africa.
