A loan worth $65 million will help pay for road maintenance works in Tanzania. The loan is being provided by the Word Bank following negotiations with the Rural and Urban Roads Agency(TARURA). This will allow further maintenance work to be carried out to the country’s road network, which suffers damage during the rainy season.
The country has been carrying out a major programme of road maintenance works as part of the Contingent Emergency Response Component (CERC). This latest funding package will allow further maintenance to be carried out, with around 70% of the planned works having been already carried out and the entire programme expected to be complete by September 2026.
