Nigeria’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) has plans to carry out US$3.15 billion worth of road improvement works across 13 states. Maintenance and improvement works will be carried out as well as resurfacing.
One of the roads to benefit from improvements will be the route linking Abeokuta with Iboro and Ilaro in Ogun State. Two stretches of the road connecting Maiduguri with Mubu will also benefit from improvements.
This latest development for Nigeria’s road network follows funding worth $1.44 billion being made available from the African Development Bank (AfDB) to help pay for transport infrastructure works in the country. The AfDB funding has been targeted at major projects such as the highway linking Sokoto with Badagry and the coastal highway connecting the country’s former capitals, Lagos and Calabar.
