Laos will benefit from a new transport development plan. Funding for the plan will benefit from backing provided by approval from the World Bank.
The programme will see new rail and road links connecting Laos with Thailand,Vietnam and China. Called the Southeast Asia Regional Economic Corridor and Connectivity Project, the programme will develop both trade and transport along a corridor. Included in the work will be improvements to National Road 2 in Laos to widen the route and ensure that it meets the required standards for Asia.
