A feasibility study is to be carried out for the planned highway connecting Nigeria’s commercial centre Lagos with Ivory Coast capital Abidjan. The planned highway will feature three lanes in either direction and is expected to improve trade and transport for West Africa. The new highway will also improve transport connections for Ghana,Benin and Togo. The feasibility study is costing US$23 million and is being funded jointly by the African Development Bank and the EU. The study is expected to take two years to complete and will assess design options, the economic benefits of the new highway and the environmental impact its construction will have.
