A new funding package will help pay for akey road project in the Democratic Republic of Congo(DR Congo). The US$99.4 million package is being provided by the African Development Bank (AfDB).
This will be used to help pay for works to the road connecting Goma and Bukava. Improvements will be carried out to link roads in Bukavu as well as to a 117km stretch of highway linking the city with Nyamukubi and to roads in South Kivu Province. Maintenance works will also be carried out on stretches of the route.
The funding comprises a loan of $47.3 million as well as a grant of $52.1 million from the AfDB. The work will help improve road transport in the DR Congo.
