El Salvador’s capital San Salvador is to benefit from a major programme of road infrastructure improvements. Funding for the work will be provided via a $135 million loan that is secured from the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI).

The maintenance and improvement works are being managed by El Salvador’s Ministry of Public Works. New drainage will help to reduce flooding, while installing new lighting and traffic lights will help to improve traffic safety in the city. Several roads will be widened, while four overpasses will be constructed to help reduce congestion in the San Salvador Metropolitan Area. Work will be carried out to Constitución boulevard, Los Próceres boulevard and the highway linking with Comalapa.
