The Swedish Government plans to invest $127.5 billion in developing its transport infrastructure from 2026-2037. This record sum will be spent on improving both road and rail links.
The Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) has said that this will help boost commerce and commuting as well as national security. The upgrade work will ensure that road and rail links are able to cope with longer and heavier vehicles. A total of 27 projects have been prioritised as being of national importance.
