Contractor Skanska will carry out improvement work to the busy A428 to the east of Cambridge. The 16km stretch of road will be widened and improved so that it features two lanes in either direction. The work is expected to cost €600 million (£507 million).

Construction work should commence in late 2022 and should take until 2026 to complete. The project is one of several key road upgrades in the East of England, following the completion of upgrade work for the A14 and A1 routes.
