Funding has been secured to help pay for planned road development works in Senegal. A finance package worth US$270 million is being provided for this vital work in Senegal by Islamic Development Bank (IDB), based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The funding will be directed towards improvement works for the 41km stretch of road linking Louga and Gandon. This section of road forms part of the route connecting Senegal’s capital,Dakar, with Saint-Louis, with upgrade works planned for this road link.
The Dakar-Saint-Louis road upgrade project has been split into two sections. Work will start first in mid-2022 on the 114km section between Tivaouane Peulh and Lompoul, which is expected to cost around $421.8 million.
Improving the route will also help boost Senegal’sinternational links with its neighbours.
