Turkey is to benefit from major transport development infrastructure works that will boost links inside the country and also to its neighbours. The country’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure has brought together a $5 billion loan package from the World Bank, the Far East Development Bank, the Islamic Development Bank and various European Banks.
Plans are in hand for a new highway to link the capital, Ankara, with Turkey’s largest city, Istanbul. Work is due for completion for the new highway linking Ankara with Krrkale and Delice in 2027. The Zengezur Corridor connecting the Turkish city of Kars with the autonomous republic of Nakhichevan is also being planned and could be ready for use by 2030.
