Financing for a key highway project in Hungary is now being changed. Building work for a new stretch of the M6 highway was to have been funded from EU sources. But this will now be financed by state funds.
The project to build the 20km section of M6 linking Boly with Ivandarda comes with a pricetag of €253 million. The work is being managed by Hungary’s infrastructure company, Nemzeti Infrastruktura Fejleszto (NIF). The section is being built jointly by STRABAG, Melyepito and Duna Aszfalt Ut.
The work was originally intended to benefit from funding sourced from EU funds. The project forms part of Hungary’s Transport Development Operative Programme (IKOP).
