STABAG’s Czech subsidiary, STRABAG SIS, has been awarded an 85% stake in the contract to build a new section of the D35 motorway between Úlibice and Hořice in the Czech Republic. The firm will be lead partner in a consortium for the € 177 million for the package of works for the 16.3km stretch of motorway.

The project includes building 18 bridge structures as well as noise barriers and one junction. Construction is expected to last around 46 months, with work having already commenced in April 2026. The road is planned to open to traffic after 34 months.

The new section of the D35 forms part of the expansion of the national motorway network under the Transport Infrastructure Development Plan of the Czech Republic. As part of the international transport corridor E442, the D35 plays a key role for both freight and passenger traffic. The new alignment will replace the existing two-lane highway I/35 between Úlibice and Hořice, which is already heavily congested due to high volumes of heavy goods vehicles.

The 18 bridge structures will have a combined length of 914m to cross several watercourses and railway lines. The works also include the relocation of utility lines, the installation of drainage systems, a grade-separated junction (with branch lengths of 1.2km) and approximately 2.8km of noise barriers.

STRABAG says it will use modern 3D machine control technology and LEAN methods on the project to ensure efficient construction and logistics processes.
