The SIS consortium has been awarded the concession package for 320km of highways in Italy. The consortium comprises Sacyr and Fininc and will handle five sections of highway close to Turin.
The highway stretches are expected to require €800 million for upgrade works as well as necessary maintenance. The 12-year concession is expected to generate a revenue of €2.9 billion and a total turnover of €3.7 billion.
The SIS consortium will operate the A21 linking Turin, Alessandria and Piacenza, the A5 linking Turin, Ivrea and Quincinetto, the A4/A5 Ivrea to Santhià link, the Turin Ring Motorway System (Satt) and the Turin to Pinerolo highway.
The highways connect Turin with other large cities, in one of the most industrialised areas of Italy. Around 33,000 vehicles/day use the routes.
Sacyr and Fininc are already highly active in Italy through SIS. This concession for SIS is in addition to the Pedemontana to Veneta highway and the A-3 highway linking Naples, Pompeii and Salerno. The alignment for the Pedemontana to Veneta route is 94km long and includes 68km of access roads. With an investment for construction of close to €2.6 billion, it is located in the northeast of the country and 60km of the route is already in operation.
SIS is also working on the SS 340 Regina Tremezzina road, a 9.5km route in Como Province, includes three tunnels, has a budget of €388 million and will take five years to build.
