Volvo Penta launched a new natural gas engine at ConExpo 2026, providing customers with a lower-emission backup power source for high-growth sectors. While the engine was designed specifically for data centres, utilities and other mission-critical infrastructure, the G17 natural gas engine can be used as a backup power supply for construction sites.
According to a company press release, “the G17 natural gas engine [is] a counterpart to Volvo Penta’s proven D17 genset engine [and] represents a significant step forward in the company’s transformation journey, delivering fuel flexibility, scalable performance, and a pathway toward a more decarbonized and resilient energy future.”
The product launch and showcase at ConExpo is part of Volvo’s commitment to building sustainable, environmentally friendly equipment for the construction industry.
