Volvo Construction Equipment is introducing the EC950 High Reach, the largest high-reach excavator in its portfolio. The machine joins the EC400 High Reach, EC500 High Reach and EC750 High Reach machines.
The EC950 High Reach combines a modular multi-configuration design with stability, advanced demolition technology and safety features to deliver powerful, reliable and efficient performance on the tallest and tightest jobsites.
The machine has an operating weight of around 182tonnes, a maximum height of 49m and can handle a 3.4tonne demolition attachment. This allows the machine to be used for the largest and most challenging demolition projects, according to the firm.
The EC950 High Reach was developed by Volvo engineers in collaboration with Volvo-authorised partners. All aftermarket parts and the warranty are provided by Volvo CE North America and its local dealer network. The machine benefits from a modular design for ease of transportation. It has a modular multi-configuration boom and arm concept which allows for simple assembly and disassembly. It also has a hydraulic, removable counterweight, detachable side tracks, modular boom and arm sections and hinged walkways. The modular design of the undercarriage, with hook-on track units, further reduces the transport weight of the separate parts.
With a maximum transport height of just 3.6m, hook-on-type modular joints and hydraulic cylinder-type pins, the machine can be configured on-site to suit specific job requirements.
The EC950 High Reach delivers stability even when operating with heavy attachments and extended reach. The durable Volvo undercarriage and purpose-built upper frame, with boom adapter and larger boom and cylinder pins, provides durability for high-stress demolition jobs. This is combined with a specially developed ring gear[kh1.1] able to withstand to enormous forces.
The EC950 High Reach is equipped with demolition-specific features to improve operator comfort, visibility and increase safety. A cab with up to 30° of tilt provides upward visibility, while the removable counterweight and new undercarriage design support safer handling of heavy loads.
CareTrack standard telematics and ActiveCare Direct advanced telematics provide real-time machine-health data and predictive-maintenance alerts to keep fleets productive and protected.
