A 10% drop in road deaths has been identified in the UAE for 2022 compared with 2021. There were 343 fatalities from road crashes in the UAE during 2022 according to the data from the UAE’s Ministry of Interior (MoI).
However, there was an increase in the number of serious road crashes which grew 13% to 3.945 compared with 2021. Young drivers aged under 30 represented 41% of those killed and 53% of those injured.
Key factors involved in crashes in the UAE included distracted driving, driving too close to the vehicle in front, DUI, careless driving and sudden swerves.
