A major highway project is due for completion within three years, linking India, Myanmar and Thailand. The project will boost trade and transport, forming part of India’s Act East programme and also helping to deliver the ASEAN-India Free Trade Agreement.
Construction work is being carried out on the 121km stretch linking Kalewa and Yagyi, as well as for 69 bridges on the 150km stretch connecting Tamu, Kyigone and Kalewa. The Indian portion of the project is being overseen by the Indian Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region (DoNER).
