STRABAG’s Australian subsidiary Georgiou Group has been awarded a $147 million contract for the Reid Highway upgrade in Perth, Western Australia. The work is for design and grade separation of two intersections to bridged interchanges on Perth’s Reid Highway.
The project will deliver more efficient traffic flow and increased safety on one of the region’s busiest freight corridors. The Reid Highway upgrades will be carried out for the client, Department of Main Roads Western Australia. The design and build contract includes the modernisation of the Altone Road and Drumpellier Drive/Daviot Road intersections on Reid Highway. The project aims to reduce congestion and improve safety and traffic flow in Perth’s northeastern corridor. Preparatory works have commenced, with completion scheduled for 2028.
The Reid Highway is one of the region’s busiest freight routes and forms part of the strategically important east-west connection across Perth, the capital of Western Australia. The replacement with grade-separated interchanges will reduce congestion and ensure more reliable and safer freight transport. It will cut congestion for commuters. In addition, a new bridge and several underpasses will enhance access for cyclists and pedestrians to the Swan Valley wine and tourism region. The project is jointly funded by the Australian Federal Government and the Government of Western Australia.
