South Australia is to benefit from funding being provided by the Australian Federal Government to help pay for road development works. The new North-South Corridor will be a new 78km freeway linking Gawler to the north of Adelaide with Old Noarlunga to the south of the city.
The project is costing as much as US$7.3 billion (A$9.9 billion) in total. Australia’s Federal Government is providing $1.67 billion (A$2.26 billion) to help complete the works. The Australian Government has already provided nearly $4 billion (A$5.4 billion) for the project.
New tunnel sections are planned between Mile End and Torrensville as well as between Clovelly Park and Glandore.
The Torrens to Darlington (T2D) project is the final stage of the North-South Corridor. The 10.5km T2D project will be delivered over two stages, with stage one (Southern Tunnel) connecting Darlington to the Anzac Hwy and stage two (Airport Link and Northern Tunnel) connecting the River Torrens and Anzac Highway.
