Senegal has set out plans for its road development programme. The plans have been developed with the assistance of the African Development Bank(AfDB). The programme of works will be for the 2021-2025 period.
Financing and technical assistance will be provided through the AfDB. The aim of the programme is to develop Senegal’s transport infrastructure, with a view to boosting its economy through greater ease of trade.
Around 500km of roads that are surfaced at present will be improved, with resurfacing being carried out where required. A further 100km of road will be surfaced.
The AfDB is already providing assistance in the area, backing the construction of a new bridge connecting Senegal with neighbouring Mauritania as well as work on the Farim to Tanaff road that connects Senegal to neighbouring Guinea Bissau.
