Tender processes for major road projects are now being carried out in Romania.
Bidding is said to be strong for Romania’s 96km Focsani-Bacau Highway project, which is expected to cost €1.67 billion. So far 12 bids have been made for the project, while the work should take 30 months to carry out and will be funded by PNRR.
Bidding is also strong for the Bacau-Pascani Highway project. The work is expected to cost €1.19 billion and 23 bids have so far been received for the work, which is split into three separate lots. The project is expected to take 30 months to carry out and will include building 112 bridges and viaducts and underpasses, as well as nine interchanges. The financing for the 77.4km highway will be provided by PNRR. Lot 1 connects Saucesti and Trifesti and measures just over 30km in length, with seven bids have been received. Lot 2 measures nearly 19km and runs between Trifesti and Gheraesti, with eight bids having been received. Measuring just over 28km, Lot 3 will link Mircesti with Pascani and eight bids have been received.
In addition, the €365.72 million contract for Lot 2 of the Lugoj-Deva Highway (A1) will be carried out jointly by Euro Asphalt, Spedition UMB, Tehnostrade, and Sa & PE Construction. One of the most complex portions of the work will be the construction of twin tunnels measuring just over 2km. The package of works was awarded to the contractors by the Romanian National Company for Road Infrastructure Management (CNAIR), while the necessary financing is being provided by PNRR and the work should take 45 months to complete.
