The TRA 2026 event in Budapest will also be the venue for the iRAP one-day Innovation Workshop

The iRAP Innovation Workshop will be held on 20 May during Transport Research Arena (TRA) in Budapest. TRA is Europe’s biggest transport conference attracting over 3,000 participants and 100 exhibitors from across the world drawn from industry, government, transport operators, financing institutions, academia and civil society. With the theme “ReGeneration in Transport”, TRA2026 will be held from 18-21 May and explore challenges facing the global transport sector, showcase new solutions and business models, and discuss latest research and developments in mobility and transport.

The iRAP one-day Innovation Workshop is set to be a high-energy, thought-provoking forum drawing road safety leaders and experts working at the cutting edge to create “Future Ready Roads for Safe, Sustainable Mobility”.

Innovation and collaboration will be key to promoting safe, inclusive, green and efficient transportation systems in the UN Decade of Sustainable Transport 2026-2035. Momentum must also continue to drive progress in the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030 which aims to halve global road deaths and injuries by 2030. Working together with global leaders who are pioneering the future of transport and mobility, iRAP is driving evidence-based technologies, policies, programmes and investment for a world free of high-risk roads.

Transformation in methodologies and tools is leveraging partners’ efforts to create safer streets, roads and highways which prioritise vulnerable road users. AI-powered solutions like AiRAP are revolutionising road assessment, risk mapping, and predictive analytics for smarter, data-driven decisions, performance tracking, and asset management on scale. Harmonised safety prediction tools are ensuring gender, age and abilities are provided for in future mobility, while living labs are testing next-gen mobility solutions in real-time for climate-neutral cities. By integrating and dashboarding diverse datasets, raw data is being transformed into powerful, actionable intelligence. And empowering the global community, capacity is being built in countries thanks to innovative programmes which are unlocking new pathways for co-creation and cross-border engagement.

By integrating cutting-edge technology, expert insights and global learnings, iRAP is optimising limited resources and the latest global innovation to empower stakeholders with world-leading solutions for safer, more resilient roads in the face of rapid global urbanisation. iRAP’s Innovation Workshop is free to attend for TRA2026 delegates. Participants can join for the day or benefit from TRA’s four-day programme of plenary and scientific sessions, technical tours and vast networking opportunities.
