Upgrade work for the New Hope-Lambertville toll bridge connecting Pennsylvania and New Jersey will commence in 2024. The design is complete and preparation work will start in December 2023. The project is being managed by the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission.
The current New Hope-Lambertville Toll Bridge is a 513m, 10-span steel two-girder structure with a reinforced concrete deck. The bridge bypasses New Hope and Lambertville, carrying US Route 202 over the Delaware River between Solebury Township,Pennsylvania, and Delaware Township, New Jersey. The substructure units are made of reinforced concrete and the piers are stone faced. The one-way toll plaza (southbound lanes) is on the Pennsylvania side and consists of four lanes. The earlier bridge was slightly shorter and was completed in 1904.
