Oman needs to repair existing road links that have been damaged by climate change and also add to the current network. Carrying out the necessary work required in 2023 will require a budget of US$2.6 billion according to the Transport, Communications and IT Ministry.
This represents a significant increase from the $88.5 million worth of tenders awarded for maintenance, road repairs and improvements in Oman during 2022 according to the Transport, Communications and IT Ministry. A further $80 million was spent on improving transport and logistics in Oman during 2022.
