A new bypass project in New South Wales,Australia will be carried out by a partnership comprising Ferrovial and Gamuda. The USS$934.7 million (A$1.35 billion) project was awarded by the New South Wales(NSW) Government.
The Coffs Harbour Bypass project is for a 14km highway with two lanes in either direction. This will utilise some existing roads as well as featuring new road stretches. There will be tunnel sections underneath Roberts Hill as well as Gatelys Road and Shephards Lane. The bypass stretch around Coffs Harbour City will run between the intersection with Englands Road and Korora Hill.
The joint venture handling the work comprises Ferrovial Construction Australia and Gamuda Australia Joint Venture (FGJV). The work is being funded by the Australian Government and the New South Wales Government jointly. The work is intended to improve traffic flow, cut journey times and reduce congestion.
