Part of the design work for the new $3.5 billion ring road project for Peru’s capital Lima will be handled by Ayesa Ingeniería (Ayesa). The package of works was awarded to the firm by the Vial Lima-Callao consortium, which has the contract to build the ring road.

The Vial Lima-Callao consortium comprises Ferrovial, Sacyr and Acciona. Ayesa will design one of the three sections for the 35km ring road. The firm has 35 months to develop the engineering study for this stretch. This second section will measure 15km and link Túpac Amaru and Naranjal avenues. This stretch of the route will features three lanes in either direction as well as two stretches with twin tunnels. Also included will be the construction of retaining walls, a tolling station and on and off ramps.

Much of the engineering and construction team Sacyr will have on the project will come from the project to develop Lima’s International Airport. Sacyr representatives have said that experience gained from the work at the airport where the latest technology has been employed will ensure that the ring road will be delivered efficiently.

When complete, Lima’s ring road will connect 11 districts around the city and to Callao and will also help boost transport, while reducing congestion on the existing network.
