Liebherr’s sophisticated LB 35.1 is the latest generation LB class foundation machine from the firm and replaces the proven LB 28-320 rotary drilling rig. The company claims that its new machine offers more power than earlier generation piling rigs, as well as refinements to its electric and hydraulic systems. A novel feature is the newly designed rear counterweight that incorporates the rear support cylinders internally.
The rig can be used for Kelly drilling, CFA and full displacement applications. It benefits from a modular leader which can also be configured to individual project requirements. Meanwhile, using the folding leader is said to simplify getting the machine ready for transport as well as assembly when it arrives onsite. The LB 35.1 features the same layout as existing Liebherr foundation machines, maximising productivity for operators.
It offers a wide working area due to the parallel kinematics, according to Liebherr. In addition, the LB 35.1 has a robust leader which can handle high torques and high tractive forces for the rope crowd system, ensuring fast operating cycles.
The machine has an operating weight ranging from 99-111.1tonnes and delivers a maximum torque of 347kNm. For Kelly operations the rig offers a maximum drilling depth of 77.5m and a maximum drilling diameter of 4.1m.
