Construction work is well underway in Bavaria in Southern Germany for a key upgrade to the A3 Autobahn. A 76km stretch of the route is being widened so that it will feature three lanes in either direction instead of two lanes in either direction at present. This will provide a necessary boost in capacity to meet current demand and provide additional capacity for expected future growth.
The work is now close to completion and is being carried out under the PPP model between the junctions for Biebelried and Fürth/Erlangen by the consortium, A3 Nordbayern. T his stretch of the route is in Franconia, in Northern Bavaria.
