Construction work is on schedule in Jamaica for the Montego Bay Perimeter Road project. Costing $354 million, the project includes the 15km Montego Bay Bypass and the 11km Long Hill Bypass. The work also includes a new, 180m bridge spanning the Montego River as well as key maintenance and improvement works for Barnett Street and West Green Avenue.
Management of the project is being handled by the National Road Operating and Constructing Company (NROCC), with construction being carried out by the Chinese contractor China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC).
Work for the Montego Bay Bypass and West Green Avenue should be completed in September 2026. Construction work at Barnett Street and for the Long Hill Bypass should be completed by May 2027.
