An important transport project is now moving forward in the Israeli city of Tel Aviv. Minrav Holdings will carry out the work on a 12km stretch of Road 461 from the Messubim Interchange with Highway 4 to the Tayasim Junction with Highway 40, which will now be repurposed.
This section of the project is costing US$87 million and will see Road 461 being transformed so as to carry light rail instead of cars and trucks. The work includes building new underpasses, bridges and pedestrian crossings. The work is significant as it will help to reduce journey times and congestion in the area.
As Road 461 passes alongside Ben Gurion Airport, the project will allow for better transport options for travellers heading to and from the facility. When complete, it will provide a 27km link into the centre of Tel Aviv. The project also includes building park and ride facilities, with spaces for 2,000 vehicles.
