Italian hydraulic breaker specialist Indeco is being acquired by Indian firm Wipro Hydraulics.
Based in Bari in South Italy, Indeco is a leading manufacturer of hydraulic breakers and demolition attachments, having been founded in 1976. Wipro Hydraulics meanwhile is one of the world’s biggest independent manufacturers of hydraulic cylinders and is part of the Wipro Infrastructure Engineering group.
Despite the global outlook, Indeco says that its roots remain planted and production will continue at the existing facilities, while the Vitulano family will continue to be fully involved in leading the company, alongside the management of the international branches, ensuring operational and strategic continuity.
“After 50 years, a new and significant chapter in our history is beginning,” said Michele Vitulano, Global Sales & Marketing Manager at Indeco. “We have chosen Wipro Hydraulics because it is the ideal partner to accompany us into a new phase of development: a solid, international organisation that shares our values and can support us in making Indeco even greater. Our identity will remain intact, as will our daily commitment to our customers and partners. This partnership will bring new resources, new energy and new opportunities for innovation. A major challenge for Indeco, but an even greater one for its competitors.”
Indeco has long been a leader in the hydraulic hammer market and was a pioneer of hydraulic breakers able to adjust performance to the hardness of materials being broken. The firm expanded its range into demolition attachments such as shears and pulverisers in more recent years. The firm’s main production facility and headquarters is located in Bari in Puglia in South Italy. The company already has an extensive dealer network around the world and has had a success internationally in the demolition segment, as well as offering an extensive range of hydraulic breakers from the smallest to some of the largest units on the market. This acquisition will provide the company with sufficient financial backing to further develop its range of hydraulic attachments, a segment that is growing fast.
