Hamm is offering a highly productive, new asphalt compactor in the shape of its HD 12 VPO model. Aimed at use on urban sites and suiting customers running rental fleets, as well as smaller contractors, the machine features a 1.2m-wide drum and is powered by a Tier 4 Final/Stage V emissions-compliant diesel rated at 18.2kW. Fuel consumption and noise levels are low, as is vibration to the operator’s seat.
Notably, this machine features compaction using oscillation rather than vibration, delivering centrifugal forces of either 38kN or 23kN, depending on the mode selected. The machine can be used for compaction in urban areas or close to sensitive computer equipment because its oscillation system does not transmit vibration over longer distances. The oscillation system also means that the machine can be used to compact surfaces on bridges without risking damage to the structure.
