The busy I-95 Intertstate highway in the US state of Virginia is to benefit from more express lanes. The existing 50km of express lanes will be extended to 66km. This stretch of highway is reputed to be one of the most congested in the US and tackling the driver delays has been deemed critical. The Australian firm Transurban is involved in the US$565 million deal. The Virginia State Transport Department will receive a $45 million payment from Transurban once the deal is finalised followed by a $232 million payment when services start on the route.
