Construction work is planned for Poland’s A4 highway. The upgrade will add lanes, boosting capacity. A 120km stretch of the highway will benefit from the widening work, which is expected to cost €2.4 billion.

The work is being managed by the Ministry of Infrastructure through the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA). The project is being carried out in three sections. These run between the Opolskie area and the Brzczkowice junction, the Brzczkowice junction to the Byczyna junction, and the Byczyna junction to the Balice I junction.

The A4 (E40) route is an important highway for transport in South Poland, linking the country with Ukraine to the East and to the German border close to Cottbus.
