Construction of a new road linking Carrigtwohill and Midleton in East Cork will not be complete for at least 10 years. When the project was discussed four years ago, it was estimated at that it would cost around €100 million. However, the project has since stalled.
The Irish Government has provided the local authorities with €500,000 to restart the project. But it will take six to seven years before work can start, with construction then taking a further 24 months at least.
