El Salvador is seeing an increase in road deaths during 2024 compared with 2023. From Jan 1st 2024 to August 31st 2024 there were 892 road deaths in the country, an increase of 14 from the 878 recorded for the same period in 2023.
Crashes also increased from 12,653 in 2023 to 13,806 in 2024 for this time period, an increase of 9.3%. This official data has been released by El Salvador’s National Road Safety Think-Tank. Distracted driving is a major cause of crashes in the country.
