Doka has joined the United Nations Global Compact, a voluntary initiative for the development, implementation and disclosure of responsible business practices.
The company said that by doing so, it joins thousands of other companies globally committed to taking responsible business action to create the world we all want.
The UN Global Compact is a call to companies everywhere to align their operations and strategies with 10 universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption, and to take action in support of sustainable development goals (SDGs). The corporate sustainability initiative was launched in 2000 and now has more than 25,000 companies in more than 160 countries, as well as more than 60 Global Compact Networks.
“Reaching Net Zero by 2040 is a clear strategic goal for Doka,” said Robert Hauser, chief executive of Doka. “Joining the UN Global Compact is, therefore, a logical next step that reinforces this path. Together with our commitment to the Science Based Targets initiative, it demonstrates that we are taking the right steps towards this ambition.”
By joining the UN Global Compact, Doka becomes part of a global network committed to responsible business conduct. As a participant, Doka will report transparently on its progress towards the Ten Principles, alongside leading construction and engineering companies such as Skanska, Vinci, STRABAG and Bouygues Construction.
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a voluntary corporate climate-action organisation, and a registered charity in England and Wales. Its subsidiary, SBTi Services, delivers target-validation services through standards, tools and guidance which enable companies and financial institutions worldwide to take credible, science-based climate action. The resources are free for any organisation via its website; companies and financial institutions can use them to set greenhouse-gas-emissions reduction targets and then have the targets validated through SBTi Services. Companies with validated targets, or which have committed to set them, are listed on the organisation’s Target Dashboard. The SBTi’s Target Dashboard lists companies and financial institutions that have set science-based targets, or have committed to developing targets.
