A consortium has won a package of works to construct a section of the D35 highway in the Czech Republic. The 12.6km stretch of the D35 highway lies between Opatovice and Časy and the project has a contract value of €132 million, with the work expected to take 44 months to complete. The consortium is headed by Austrian contractor STRABAG with a 41% stake in the deal and also includes the Czech firms Silnice and SMP CZ.
This new four-lane link will feature two interchanges. The D35 is part of the northern route linking Bohemia and Moravia and is intended to serve as an alternative route to the D1 highway.
The contract includes building 25 bridges. Of these, seven bridges will cross above the highway, while the remaining 18 form part of the route itself. The largest bridge is a 1,060m-long overpass spanning the Elbe River and its floodplain area. Seven noise abatement walls also form part of the contract.
