China State Construction Engineering Corp, CSCEC, has secured a €332.34 million deal to build a motorway section within an autonomous region of Bosnia and Hercegovina.

The 33km stretch of motorway will run from the town of Vukosavlje to the town of Brcko and be part of a highway connecting the Republic of Srpska with neighbouring Serbia and its capital Belgrade. The highway starts in the city of Prijedor in the west of Bosnia and within Republic of Srpska.

CSCEC was selected by Autoputevi, the state-owned motorway operator, for the project after it entered the lowest of eight bids. The Chinese firm has been winning major contracts in the former Yugoslavian countries including Montenegro.

The Republic of Srpska  is one of the two entities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the other being the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is located in the north and east of the country.
