Construction work is underway for the Brno bypass project in the Czech Republic. Cement producer Cemex has supplied over 45,000m3 of concrete for the Žabovřeská Street section of the Brno City Ring Road.

This is said to be one of the most technically demanding infrastructure projects in the city’s history. The Brno City Ring Road is a major project designed to improve traffic flow in one of the Czech Republic’s busiest urban corridors. Once completed, the route will accommodate four lanes of traffic as well as a modern tram line.

Cemex delivered specialised concrete mixes for key structures, including a 500m tram tunnel beneath Wilson Forest and two monolithic concrete galleries. Operations required continuous and nighttime deliveries under challenging conditions according to Cemex.

Construction of the project is expected to take three years to complete.
