An important road tunnel project is under construction in Bosnia and Herzegovina at present. The 3.4km Zenica Tunnel will form part of the key 5C Corridor route.
Around 1,000m of the tunnel remains to be bored. The tunnel support and lining work is being carried out immediately behind the drive. The fitting out work with the necessary mechanical and electrical systems will then have to be completed once the drive has been finished.
The contract is being handled by Euro-Asfalt and is being supervised by Proyapi. The twin tube Zenica Tunnel forms part of the Zenica Bypass between Ponirak and Vraca. The project will boost transport in Bosnia and Herzegovina once complete.
