The Costa Rica Government is setting out plans for the $700 million upgrade of the Route 27 highway. The project is expected to cost $700 million and is being managed by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.
Work is due to commence in 2027, with the project being handled in two separate sections, with the first linking Escazú and Atenas. Improving Route 27 will boost transport between Costa Rica’s capital, San Jose, and the country’s Pacific Coast. The existing route will be widened to boost capacity as well as traffic safety.
