Construction is due to start in Luque in Paraguay for a new elevated highway stretch. The project is expected to cost between $180 million and $200 million to complete and will provide a new tolled road that links with the PY02 route.
The work is being planned by Paraguay’s Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC). The tender process is underway at present and is being managed by Rutas del Este. The new link will cut congestion for commuters in Luque as well as in the capital, Asuncion and also Areguá, Ypacaraí, San Bernardino, Nueva Colombia and Emboscada.
Meanwhile, a number of environmental works are also being carried out in Paraguay as part of the construction of the Bioceanic Road Corridor project. When complete, the Bioceanic Road Corridor will link Antofagasta in Chile with the Brazilian port of Santos, with a 224km stretch passing through Paraguay.
General construction is also underway for the third stretch of the Bioceanic Road Corridor. The work is being carried out by CDD Construcciones SA.
Work for the Bioceánica Bridge is also progressing. When complete, the bridge will link Carmelo Peralta in Paraguay and Porto Murtinho in Brazil.
