Three major transport infrastructure projects are planned for Florida, with a total cost of over $1 billion. One is for 27km of express lanes for I-4 in Hillsborough County. Another is for a new interchange linking I-95 and the Florida Turnpike. The third is for an extension of the Central Polk Parkway in Polk County. The projects will reduce travel times and congestion levels, while reducing the risk of crashes and boosting safety for drivers.
Meanwhile, the $447 million interchange in Martin County will provide a new ramp between I-95 and the Florida Turnpike, with the latter also benefiting from widening work to boost capacity . This project is being managed by the Florida Department of Transportation.
The $134 million Central Polk Parkway extension will deliver a 4km toll road and is due for completion in 2031. A new interchange will be built to improve the connection with US 17 while the intersection with State Road 60 will be signalised.
