Construction is underway for three important road projects in Senegal, with funding having been secured to help pay for the works.

Construction of the 200km route linking the capital Dakar with the second city of Saint Louis to the north (via Tivaouane) is being financed jointly by Société Générale Corporate and the Saudi Development Fund. The former is contributing US$360 million with the latter providing $63 million for the 55km stretch between Dakar and Tivaouane.

Other roads being built will link Tivaouane with Pambal and Darou Alpha as well as from Mboro to Diogo.

The projects continue with Senegal’s programme of highway construction. In 2021 the country had just 32km of highway, linking Dakar with Diamniadio. At present the country has around 315km of highways, however by 2026 the network will extend a total of 531km.
