Turn drone data into BIM data with DatuBIM

DatuBIM can monitor earthwork with automatic volume calculations, trace changes with each new as-built digital twin, compare design surface to the as-built, track roads build-ups and follow up on cut-and-fills over time and in different formats.

The diversity of the analytics delivered by DatuBIM, the fact that users can zoom-in to high resolution images, take measurements with ease, count materials delivered or extracted – all without the need to be on site –is a clear time and money saver, said Jad Jarroush, Datumate’s founder.

Dispersed teams can slow a project’s progress. With DatuBIM, everyone on the project has access to the right data, when and where they need it. They can add annotations and share notes on digital models, which means they can find solutions faster in the event of problems and deviations.

Datumate’s Managed Services experts will help clients with reports in the formats that they have used to date, with certified surveyor sign-off on reports; it also creates reports as needed, such as Road Layer Build-up Reports and Delta Elevation Analyses.

But one of the biggest advantages of DatuBIM is that it creates solid working relationships between stakeholders, thanks to its connection to BIM – building information modelling, said Jarroush. BIM is increasing in use and is even mandatory in some countries, making it the future for best-practice collaborative working.

Bonfiglioli becomes a solutions provider using digitalisation, big data, recording, and analysis

Massimo Palomba, product manager and key sector manager for e-mobility at Bonfiglioli, said the company’s strategy is to implement the change in the next few years.

“We already provide the drive systems and the next step for us is to provide the solution that features digitalisation, big data, recording and analysis, in order to provide predictive maintenance and so on,” Palomba added.

He said that, as part of the move to becoming a solutions provider, Bonfiglioli has developed its own sensors that can be included in the systems it sells to customers.

“The sensor will acquire the data of what the drive is doing – the torque, the temperature, speed and vibrations,” said Palomba. “The key is reading this amount of data correctly and what it means.”

Fabio Campana, product marketing director for Bonfiglioli mobile & wind industries, said the solutions provider approach has already started to be applied in the company’s mining and quarrying crushing equipment business, shredder applications, and wind turbines business, with the latter accounting for 25% of Bonfiglioli's total turnover.

Palomba added that the company plans to extend the solutions provider approach to its business in compact construction equipment.

“The journey to become a solution provider has started. It will take a while, but it is a clear target to us.”

Cummins goes fuel agnostic as it heads for destination zero

Cummins is future-proofing its internal combustion engine options developing a “common base range” of power units that can be adapted to run on natural gas, hydrogen, or diesel by making a few simple alterations. According to the company’s construction market director Jeremy Harsin, Cummins has developed a fuel-agnostic approach in which “you scale the bottom end of the engine, change the air handling systems and the cylinder head,” and away you go...

MB Crusher launches compact one-tonne MB-HDS220 padding bucket in North America

MB Crusher says its load capacity of 0.61m3, which the Italy-based manufacturer says makes the bucket “compact, versatile, and highly manoeuvrable.” The new MB-HDS220 padding bucket should also make work easier, reduce processing time, and save on operating costs, the company says.

The size of the mouth opening is 2.2m, a width which will allow easy loading by ensuring that the tracks or wheels of the carrier machine remain clean, says MB Crusher.

The inlet is designed to convey material quickly to the rotors. MB Crusher says that maintenance is simple with greasing being centralised and done on-site … as with all its products.

The coupling system is designed to allow a maximum margin of movement of the operating machine. This system allows excellent visibility of the material to be worked on and of the site.

As with the other HDS models, the MB-HDS-220 allows the operator to change the rotors quickly and directly on-site. This makes it a versatile machine with which different types of material can be processed efficiently and quickly.

The MB-HDS-220 is designed to facilitate work on all construction sites where there is a need to aerate packed topsoil. This facility could be useful, for example, when there is a need to reclaim and clean soil from various demolition debris, stones or roots, to select material for covering pipes or trenches, or for making the bedding.

Matec makes materials washing clean, green, and profitable

Friends since the age of 11, the Italian founders of Matec now run an international business designing and manufacturing complete washing, wastewater purification, and filtration plants for the aggregates, construction, recycling, and demolition sectors. As the friendship has grown stronger over the years, so has the company’s range of products, and it is now a leader in the sector helping its customers to minimise waste. Its machines can recycle up to 97% of the water used on site, and state-of-the-art filtration systems are used to keep the air clean and breathable.

According to Matec founder and CEO, Matteo Goich, “we are helping to transform waste into a new resource, and to contribute to the circular economy. We are sustainable. We want to use what nature has given us in the right way.”

Command Alkon launches Customer Portal mobile app for accurate materials tracking

Command Alkon says Customer Portal allows materials buyers to streamline their operations. The new package delivers instant, reliable data sharing and will help materials buyers create, manage, and track orders 24 hours a day.

The new app is fully integrated with the company’s COMMANDbatch, TrackIt, and Command Alkon Dispatch systems, which are called COMMANDseries, Integra, and Dispatch. The manufacturer says that the new app can also integrate with other third-party systems through open APIs.

“If materials are late, it creates a ripple effect that affects every single jobsite activity and significantly adds to project costs; the value of Customer Portal is that it answers the question ‘where’s my truck,’” said Ranjeev Teelock, chief product officer at Command Alkon.

“Ticket data shared through Customer Portal informs buyers of when the driver picks up the materials and the exact quantities that are on the way to the job. Sharing order information with customers gives them the insight that they need to improve planning and utilisation and can dramatically cut down on unnecessary phone calls – by as much as 30%.”

Sharing truck locations and ETAs provides visibility from dispatch to delivery and gives customers confidence and trust in knowing where orders are and when they will arrive, says Command Alkon.

“Field personnel can monitor inbound movement of supplies so that they don’t stack up at the gate and instead can flow easily in and out of the jobsite,” said Deepa Vangimalla, senior product owner at Command Alkon.

“If Load Assurance (formerly COMMANDassurance) is also in use and integrated with Customer Portal, there’s insight into the specification of the materials, and whether or not the load is ready to pour.”

Sullair unveils its E1035H fully electric portable compressor with swing-out coolers

The fully electric E1035H provides the same reliability, durability and performance as its diesel counterparts. It contains the company’s proven air end and solid state starter for superior efficiency. It also touts quiet operation, added safety features and a lower total cost of ownership as compared to diesel compressors.

The E1035H was designed for an evolving marketplace and serves as the beginning of a long line of green initiatives and product innovations, said John Randall, chief executive of Sullair.

Additionally, the E1035H features condensate management technology which helps eliminate the need for additional equipment to dispose of condensate. Delivering equivalent power capacity and efficiency as similar-sized diesel-powered compressors, the E1035H produces 1035cfm at 150 psi.

The Sullair proprietary Electronic Spiral Valve (ESV) provides industry-leading efficiency. The E1035H also boasts added flexibility with its emission-less design allowing it to be used indoors and wherever a 60Hz power source is available.

Sullair said the E1035H is the first to feature swing-out coolers that allow users complete access to the coolers, both front and back, enabling more thorough cleaning which helps keep the compressor running optimally.

Sullair, part of the Hitachi Group, said the unit runs exclusively on Sullube, a biodegradable, varnish-removing lubricant expertly engineered by Sullair for optimised performance and maximum efficiency.
